A delegation from the NCPBM visited the establishment recently, as part of a monitoring and evaluation mission.

The National Commission for the Promotion of Bilingualism and Multiculturalism recently carried out a monitoring and evaluation visit to assess the implementation of the national policy for the promotion of the two official languages at the National Ports Authority. The team led by Madame Ama Tutu Muna (former minister in charge of social affairs) was received by the Deputy General Manager, Mrs. AYUKETAH Pamela, representing the General Manager. The emissaries of the National Commission for the Promotion of Bilingualism and Multiculturalism first met behind closed doors with the Deputy General Manager before having open discussions with APN officials and some members of the Bilingualism Committee.

Regarding the promotion of the two official languages, the Deputy General Manager highlighted the various working documents of the company which respect the imperative of bilingualism. In 2019, APN created a committee responsible for monitoring and implementing bilingualism.

Following this presentation, Mrs. AMA TUTU MUNA congratulated the National Ports Authority for the progress made since their last visit in 2018. The officials of the National Commission for the Promotion of Bilingualism and Multiculturalism thus classified APN among the good examples to be followed. However, for Mrs. AMA TUTU MUNA, the practice of bilingualism must be associated with moral values such as justice, equity, accountability and virtues that consolidate living together and cement national unity. Among the achievements, the delegation of the National Commission for the Promotion of Bilingualism and Multiculturalism encouraged APN for the recruitment of a Translator. They also encouraged the Top Management of APN to continue to ensure respect for multiculturalism and linguistic balance during recruitments. The commission promised to advocate for the allocation of resources necessary for a better implementation of the national policy for the equal promotion of the two official languages. Initiated by the chairman of the commission, Mr. Peter Mafany Musonge, this operation was launched on March 14, 2022 and aims to visit all the public enterprises in order to assess the practice of Bilingualism and Multiculturalism.
